Vocabulary:
Boggiest: very watery and spongy, like the ground in a bog or swamp
Dissolve: change from solid to liquid or to cause this to happen
Chemicals: substances with certain properties
Carnivorous: meat- eating
Accidentally: by mistake; without meaning to
Fertilizer: a substance put on or in the soil or water to feed plants
Victim: a person or animal that is mistreated or attacked by someone or something else

Monday:
Review Vocabulary
Groups Red and Black: Make up your own riddle to help you remember the meanings of the vocabulary words
Groups Blue and Orange: Use the words in a 1 page story

4th Grade Crazy Creations project: Rdg and Language Project
OVERVIEW: As a member of SKOW (Smart Kids of the World) you have been invited to compete in an elite competition (less than 20 children in the world) that very few students will compete in. As you consider what you are interested in inventing, think about what kinds of products people need and use. What’s new in inventions?

Math: Geometry- 3 weeks
We have line segments, rays, angles, symmetry, area and perimeter, solids and more to cover. This is going to be quick but we may have a few more days to add if we need them.
We might have to double up on math as well to get all these concepts in, which means a little in the morning maybe.

Monday: Last day to practice measuring and drawing angles- w/s
Tuesday: polygons and quadrilaterals- in class 9-6 and 9-4 HW 40830
Wednesday: triangles -- in class pw 93 h/w 9-5
Thursday: intro to circles: radius/diameter, activity 40835 inclass/homework if needed
Friday: review circles, in class 23- HW: 24

next week we'll hit area, perimeter and symmetry

SCIENCE: Sun and Earth and Stars
PLANET WEBQUEST- 5 day
OVERVIEW:
You are an astronaut on a mission to another planet in our solar system. You will join a crew to gather information about your destination. When you become experts, you will voyage to this planet. After exploring it, you will contact Mission Control on Earth by cyber postcard to communicate your impressions and data.



SS: Civil War Stimulation- 5 days
Overview:
Students will learn about the critical period in American history by reliving some of the events of the Civil War. They will re-create some of the experiences of the people who were living in a nation at war with itself. By taking the perspective of a historical character living through the war, students will see that history is so much more than just names, dates, and places, but rather the real experiences of people like themselves.
