NEW: We are also working on a 4th Grade Genre Project. The students will be researching different genre's and then they will be selecting their favorite genre, and together with a partner, write and illustrate a book of that genre. We will be working on this until for about 2 weeks maybe. Presenting stories today!!!!

Next we will be doing a Poetry Unit starting on Tuesday. The kids will be given a packet that has examples of each of the poems we will be writing. In it is a grading sheet for them to go by. This is a super easy A- if you just do the work!

Writing: WE WILL BE HITTING THIS HARD THIS WEEK- We will be taking our assessment around the end of the month/beginning of April

Writing Assessment Prep- work on this Monday, Wednesday and Friday

ok- the writing assessment is RIGHT around the corner. It's very important you prepare for this at home as well.

We've been learning about the 5 paragraph essay and key points to writing. The kids have been giving a writing packet with transition works, good choice words, etc.

I'm also including in this packet the guidelines to a 5 paragraph essay as well as a sample essay.

If the kids have to write a free lance story, where there are no specific guidelines, it's important to use lots of puncuation, quotations, good choice words, and paragraphs dividing your thoughts.

You will be given two writing prompts to work on next week.

We will be spending about 1-2 weeks learning about Geography including maps, mystery countries, landforms, bodies of water and time zones. I will have these things in different centers for them to rotate around and do some activities. There really isn't something to send home for them to do as we will be doing activities in the classroom.
