Snow Day Assignments Week of March 8th

With the possibility of another snow storm coming Monday- I want to go ahead and send home next week's assignments just in case.

It's VERY IMPORTANT to bring this work back in if we do have school as we will be doing it here in class. These will be counted as grades!

Writing: Writing Assessment Prep- work on this Monday, Wednesday and Friday

ok- the writing assessment is RIGHT around the corner. It's very important you prepare for this at home as well.

We've been learning about the 5 paragraph essay and key points to writing. The kids have been giving a writing packet with transition works, good choice words, etc.

I'm also including in this packet the guidelines to a 5 paragraph essay as well as a sample essay.

If the kids have to write a free lance story, where there are no specific guidelines, it's important to use lots of puncuation, quotations, good choice words, and paragraphs dividing your thoughts.

You will be given two writing prompts to work on next week.

Language: Synonyms, Antonyms and Homonyms

Synonyms are different words which have the same meaning, or almost the same meaning.

Ex: stones and rocks, chair and seat, go and leave baby and infant

Antonyms are words which have opposite meanings

EX: short and tall, real and unreal hot and cold, hard and soft

Homonyms is a word that has the same pronunciation and spelling as another word, but a different meaning

EX: punch ( a drink) and punch (to hit), bat ( an animal) and bat ( baseball bat)

Tuesday: Synonyms worksheet

Wednesday: Antonyms worksheet

Thursday: Review of Synonyms, Antonyms and Homonyms worksheet

Tuesday:Division worksheet #7

Wednesday: division worksheet #7r
